Bobby is a Bobcat, Felix rufus. Sometimes called wildcats, bobcats live in the forests, swamps, mountains, prairie, and deserts in much of North America. Bobcats are generally nocturnal (most active at night), but have peaks of activity at dawn and dusk. They spend their day in their den (a cave, hollow log or rock crevice). They are excellent climbers and swimmers. Bobcats are roughly twice as big as the average housecat. Most bobcats are brown or brownish red with a white underbelly and short, black-tipped tail. These graceful cats are from 34in to 40in (60-100cm) long (including the tail). the cat is named for its stubby tail which is only 4in to 7in (10-18cm) long, and looks as though it was cut off (or bobbed). Bobcats have a life span of 10-14 years. Measures 10". 0420
