The Freight Wagon was a farm wagon with an unusually deep body set atop mountain gear. A powerful break-leverage system coupled with very large brake shoes. The body was 12 feet long and could be 36" to 52" deep and could carry loads up to 10 tons. These wagons were especially popular with freight carriers in the west. The wagons would be piled high with sugar, salt, coffee, beans, rice oats and other supplies needed. On the return trip they would often carry loads of skins and hides.
