Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902) painted this view of the Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River after his 1881 trip to Yellowstone National Park. He loaned the painting to the White House in an attempt to convince Congress to purchase it for the President's residence, but was unsuccessful. It did, however, inspire President Chester A. Arthur to visit Yellowstone in 1883. The original Yellowstone Falls resides in the Whitney Gallery of Western Art. Dimensions are 26 1/4" x 18". #31012967
