A high quality print of a western icon. With bleeding buffalo and bleached skulls in the foreground, the landscape artist Albert Bierstadt (1830-1902)represented the theme of wildlife vanishing from the wilderness. He made the shapes of distant mountains repeat the shapes in the main figures, thus underlining the interdependent relationships in nature. Last of the Buffalo implies other endings. Bierstadt's original monumental oil painting is in the entryway of the Whitney Gallery of Western Art. Image measures 37 3/4" x 23 1/2".
